Dr. Daniel Hocking

Dan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Frostburg State University.  He received his Bachelors from the University of New Hampshire, his Masters from the University of Missouri and Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire. From 2014 to 2016, Dan was a USGS Mendenhall Postdoctoral Fellow and Fellow with the DOI Northeast Climate Science Center at the University of Massachusetts working with Ben Letcher, Evan Grant, Keith Nislow, and Mary Ratnaswamy. He joined the faculty of FSU in August 2016. Dan teaches Ecology, Herpetology, and Quantitative Analysis of Vertebrate Populations. His research focuses on land-use and climate change on amphibian and reptile populations. He uses his knowledge of statistics and population dynamics to support research on other taxa, especially as needed to inform conservation and natural resource decisions.
